Live Tournament: Wind Energy Forecasting
For modern society to function, we need steady, predictable supplies of energy. The challenge is to use finance to help mitigate the unpredictability of weather-dependent renewables like wind.
In this tournament, teams play the role of an energy trader. Their goal is to develop an online deep learning algorithm for a T+18 hour energy forecast. The objective is to maximize profits for their client (wind farm operators) using their energy production forecast and a given trading algorithm. The wind energy data is based on live data of wind energy in France.
